There is a wonderful organization that supports the future of our community, our youth, that is in need - The FORT (Foundation of Resources for Teens).
In 2001, The FORT was established in reaction to increasing teen suicide rates in our communities. The FORT provides FREE services and recreational programs for children 11-18 through after school and evening programs. The resources provided include, but are not limited to: supplemental support in the form of emergency services and resources, resume help, field trips, music lessons, sports lessons, homework help, and workshops on: positive body image, life skills, mental health, anti-drug/smoking/drinking. The FORT does not receive funding from the federal or provincial government and relies on the generous support of our community to survive. We have two FORT locations empowering our youth to make positive and successful life choices in our West Lincoln community: Smithville and Caistor Centre.
